Long before the term “social entrepreneur” became a part of everyday discourse, Chanda Shroff quietly and almost single-handedly initiated Shrujan in 1969 to enable drought-ridden Kutchi women with sustainable & dignified livelihood.

She saw a thread of hope in the exquisite hand embroidery weaved on Dhaneti village women’s clothing during her drought relief work and there was no looking back.
In 2006, she became the first Indian Laureate to receive the prestigious Rolex Award For Enterprise for her initiative and establishment of Shrujan.
In August 2016, Chanda Shroff passed away but she left her ambition & compassion in the form of an establishment - Living And Learning Design Centre (LLDCC), a multi-dimensional crafts education and resource centre located in Kutch.
